The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

Beautiful. Thrilling. Wow. Excellent work of Fiction.
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon is the purest definition of a great story. This tale follows the young son of a book dealer in post-WWII Barcelona, Spain, as a city heals from war. Daniel, who tries to find his way after the loss of his mother, stumbles on a book titled; The Shadow of the Wind and sets of on a journey fraught with tragic twists and turns that eventually lead him on an adventure much like the story caught between the pages of the book.
He sets out to unravel the truth surrounding the author, Julian Carfax’s , and why almost every published work of fiction that he has ever written, has mysteriously been burned by a man who is rumored to be a character right out of the authors work. Daniel uncovers a dark secret surrounding Barcelona, the city he loves, as well as embarks on a collision course with destiny that may have already been written for him.
Must read, cannot emphasize it enough. If you want to be lost in the world of intrigue, imagination and the promise of genuine good story-telling, pick up a copy of The Shadow of the Wind.
