Wyman Ford, ex-CIA, is called in to find the mining camp deep in the jungle and the source of a new mineral found on Earth’s surface that has a radioactive nature not known to man. Little does Ford realize is, that the Rebels soldiers are the least of his worries. 

Back in Maine, Abbey and Jackie, two young women with dreams of fortune, set out to find the meteor and hopefully score a one way ticket out of a mundane life. A definite purchase new! A great afternoon read that will leave you wanting more. The New York Times bestselling author Douglas Preston explores the possibility that we are, and never were, alone in the universe.

Altar of Bones by Philip Carter

Little was to be desired while reading this book. Long, drawn out, overly detailed, Altar of Bones left little for the imagination in what is defined as a “real page turner”. New York bestselling author Greg Iles, reviews Altar of Bones as; “Dan Brown meets Robert Ludlum…Gripping, incredibly fast-paced.” Did he even read this book? It was more like Dan Brown meets Jackie Collins, meets dime-store harlequin romance novels.

A priceless artifact from early Russian history allies two strangers across the globe in a race against evil forces and a conspiracy to large for anyone hero. 645 pages of a drawn out game of cat and mouse, Altar of Bones has 200 pages of needles detail. Any further description of this story would read the few chances this book will get picked up.

Fortunately, did not spend $9.99 US dollars, so I have at least something positive to say about this book. Philip Carter is a pseudonym for an internationally renowned author who should stick to penning novels under his own name, because at least here he can still sell books by name recognition.

Grim Reaper End of Days by Steve Alten

New York Times best sell Steve Alten introduces us to a realistic thriller in Grim Reaper End of Days about an all too real apocalypse taking place in one of the largest cites on the planet, New York’s Manhattan. The story follows Marine Veteran Patrick Shepherd as he is quarantined from a deadly bubonic plague released by an End of Days fanatic as he returns from the war in Afghanistan.

Patrick finds himself recuperating from PTSD in a VA hospital when a deadly act of terrorism sweeps through the borough and he must decide his next move to not only save himself and his Wife and Daughter, but the President of the United States who is making his case for war at the United Nations.

Grim Reaper End of Days combines real life events, with conspiracy theories involving 9/11 and the case for war-and ancient mysticism to give a fast past ride to the end of the world by the hands of dark forces.  

Definite read while taking a flight.
